Faculty Position in Structural Engineering

THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL, ARCHITECTURAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING (CAEE) AT ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (IIT) invites applications at the assistant or associate professor level for a tenure-track position in civil and architectural engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering.

The candidate will be expected to (1) teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering (especially in steel structural design), (2) develop and sustain a strong externally funded research program, (3) interact with a multi-disciplinary group of faculty within and outside the Department and the University, and (4) be involved in service to the university and the profession. The Department’s priority areas for this position are, but not limited to, structural behavior and design (especially in areas related to steel structures), structural dynamics and seismic design, experimental methods with applications to steel structures, and structures in transportation systems. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in civil engineering with specialization in structural engineering. The successful candidate is also expected to obtain a professional engineering license within three years starting from employment with IIT. The CAEE Department at IIT offers ABET accredited BS degrees in civil and in architectural engineering as well as graduate degrees in civil, architectural, and environmental engineering.
