Expertise 

Multimedia signal processing and communication including low-complexity image/video coding, compressed image/video sensing, error-resilient video coding and transmission, 3-D video representation and transmission, multi-view video coding, depth map processing and coding; Computer vision and video analysis including object detection and recognition, deep learning, real-time 3D reconstruction.

Research 

Dr. Joohee Kim joined the faculty of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. IL, in 2009 and is currently an Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

She is the Director of Multimedia Communications Laboratory at IIT and has been actively involved in research projects funded by US Federal Agencies and Korean Government. Her current research interests include image and video signal processing, computer vision and machine learning, multimedia communication, multimedia systems, and real-time 3D reconstruction for augmented teleoperation and robotics applications.
