Engineers For a Sustainable World (ESW)
Engineers for a Sustainable World is an organization dedicated to tackling local and global sustainability challenges through education, technical projects, and collaborative action. ESW-IIT is specifically devoted to bringing sustainability projects to the IIT and Chicago area community. Our projects span from solar energy to urban agriculture. We pride ourselves in being a new dynamic organization that is part of a national movement. We are always open to new project ideas and are open to all members of the IIT, Vandercook, and Shimer communities. Connect with the group on Facebook, or send them an email.
Illinois Tech Railroad Club
Originally founded in 1948, the Illinois Tech Model Railroad Club's layout grew to occupy the entire attic of Main Building. In 2016, the layout had to be disassembled to vacate the building and the club ceased to operate regularly.
In 2018, we rebuilt the organization to cover both model railroading and career development for students interested in the professional railroad industry. We are once again an official Illinois Tech student organization, and are building a new, modular model railroad in our new space on campus. In addition, we are chartered as an official student chapter of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association offering railroad career development opportunities such as field trips, guest speakers, and networking events. Illinois Tech Robotics
Illinois Tech Robotics exists to serve the Illinois Tech community by providing students with real engineering experience in the fields of robotics and mechatronics. We also serve the community through volunteer work with FIRST Robotics in the Chicago area and across the nation. Connect with the group on Facebook, check out their website or send them an email.
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
IEEE creates an environment where members collaborate on world changing technologies from computing and sustainable energy systems, to aerospace, communications, robotics, healthcare, and more. Membership is open to individuals who are studying designated fields including: Engineering, Computer Sciences and Information Technology, Physical Sciences, Biological and Medical Sciences, Mathematics, Technical Communications, Education, Management, Law and Policy. Connect with the group on Facebook, check out their website or send them an email.
Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)
The purpose of the student chapter of ITE is to provide a resource to IIT students interested in transportation studies and students with a general interest in transportation related issues. Some benefits of joining the organization include employment and scholarship notifications, transportation related seminars, social outings and opportunities to attend regional and national conferences.
