Women in Engineering

The Illinois Institute of Technology Student Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) was selected to receive the Best Collegiate Section Award from the SWE Chicago Regional Section (CRS). The annual award is given to recognize and encourage the achievements of the eight collegiate sections in the region. In addition to Illinois Tech, SWE-CRS received applications from Northwestern University, Northern Illinois University (NIU), and University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

Armour College of Engineering was honored to host world renowned engineer and scientist, Dr. Natalia Zaitseva, a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, for a Women in Engineering Student Conversation. The event was held as part of Armour’s Women in Engineering initiative, and will be one of many events where world renowned women engineers and scientists share their knowledge and experience with students.

Armour College of Engineering was delighted to host Jill S. Tietjen, electrical engineer of over 35 years, President of the Board of the National Women’s Hall of Fame, CEO of Technically Speaking, and Inductee of the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame this past Monday, November 17. Tietjen shared her lecture, Halls of History, Horizons of Leadership: Women Engineering the Future, to students who attended from all Colleges at IIT.
